Effective March 1st, 2007 Grayhawk Pediatrics will be offering the 2nd dose of the Varicella (Chickenpox) Vaccine at age 5 years. This is according to the recently updated recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control as well as the American Academy of Pediatrics.
This Recommendation also includes a "Catch-up dose" for those children and adolescents who are older than 5 years of age and who received a single dose of varicella vaccine in their first or second year of life.
***This recommendation does NOT apply to those children who actually develpoed a true case of chickenpox and thus have life-long immunity. |
